I have always hated finishing. Coat after coat of polyurethane, hours to dissolve shellac, setting up spray tents, the fumes, drips, having to do a piece twice in order to reach both sides – ugh. I can see why pro's sub contract this out. My local hardwood dealer has Odie's on an endcap. They also have Rubio. The clerk (do people still say that?) said he had used Odie's, found it simpler, and liked the results. This stuff is the bomb. You can sand to whatever grit or, as I try to...

Lumberpunk did a nice and quite complete summary of what the tool is. I will tell you what I think of it after roughly 10 years of owning one. I own a large (table based) and two mid-size routers so I used the tool for its intended purpose. I.e. very lightweight routing like small bevels, quarter rounds and shallow mortices for hinges and the likes. 1. The fact it does not have variable speed is a show stopper in my opinion. Routing maple almost always causes burning unless moving the...

Bucket Boss Tool Sheath - Never lose your pencil again

Bucket Boss Tool Sheath - Never lose your pencil again

Hello All,I just wanted to share this simple, inexpensive item with you because I find it so useful. I don't like wearing an apron, so for a long time I wore a carpenter's tool belt for my woodworking. That's a bit cumbersome and overkill, so I started looking for something more compact to hole the 4 tools I'm always using: pencil, tape measure, small square, and knife. I also wanted something easy to put on and take off, and this has a stiff flap that slides under your belt. Everything is...

Disappointed with Grizzly T32468 Rough Surface Mobile Base

Disappointed with Grizzly T32468 Rough Surface Mobile Base

11-09-2021 01:00 PM by CaptainKlutz | 5 comments »

The Grizzly T32468 Rough Surface mobile base is a new product for 2021. Anyone who has read my other mobile base posts or read about the custom built mobile base under my TS work station, knows my shop is challenging for mobile bases. The T32468 looks good on paper, and with a current retail price of one half the competitive All-Terrain bases from Rockler and Portamate; Why not buy one? For sake of honesty: Grizzly sent me a 'you have not bought anything in awhile' $25 off...

Dewalt 20 volt and Milwaukee 18 volt Cordless Router Comparison

Dewalt 20 volt and Milwaukee 18 volt Cordless Router Comparison

I have a fair bit of experience with corded routers as can be seen in this thread and recently decided to try the cordless. https://www.woodworkingtalk.com/threads/whats-your-tool-fetish.134370/ After reading all the reviews and watching videos I ended up getting the Dewalt 20 volt DCW600B and Milwaukee 18 volt 2723-20 (my timing was perfect as Home Depot has a deal on both where you buy the battery starter kit with 2 batteries/charger for $199.00 and get a tool free). Initia...

Review: 5-stars … after adding Rutager West upgrade kit (without, ... 4 stars—the buckling crank without the upgrade kit is a real problem if you ever planned to use it) High Resolution Gallery One mild afternoon, I receive a message from a friend asking if they can send me something—doesn't say what it is. Intrigued, I agree. Oh, wondrous wonders, what did arrive, but a Bridge City Tool Works CT-6 hand drill. Speechless? I was. Weeks have gone-by since it ...

Wixey WR-700 Lighted TS DRO with 60" range & 0.005" resolution

Wixey WR-700 Lighted TS DRO with 60" range & 0.005" resolution

Was on a different thread and I saw this Wixey TS DRO. I already have an Incra on the TS and it works perfectly. The only drawback is that the crosshair is far over to the right and, for my eyes anyway, it's a bit hard to resolve the 1/32" lines. Incra cross hair. The Wixey WR-700 brings an easy to read, lighted digital readout to the table saw. Those familiar with my work know I use DRO's on most everything. I have digital angle cube, digital 8" caliper, 6"...

Great price for Wen 4-inch Swivel and Locking Polyurethane Casters

Great price for Wen 4-inch Swivel and Locking Polyurethane Casters

My shop floor is covered with HF anti fatigue mats. It was difficult to move a cabinet I made with the 3" casters I originally installed on it. I shopped around for 4" casters and found a set of four Wen 4" swivel locking casters at Wenproducts.com for a great price of $24.89 and no freight charges. That's only $6.2225 each. I removed the 3" and installed the new 4". The new casters have slotted screw holes and fit the existing holes. The one inch difference in the ...

Tired of making new clearance inserts

Tired of making new clearance inserts

10-26-2021 08:48 PM by awsum55 | 10 comments »

I have been making and repairing my zero clearance inserts way too often. I even have damage to my sleds from the blade vibrating. I also notice that sometimes on a 45º cut the 90º part of the cut is not straight. My table saw is a 5hp Unisaw and I make sure everything is set up correctly. I decided to buy the Blade Stiffener from Forrest and I couldn't be happier. I use it with my Forrest Woodworker II thin kerf blade. Actually I use it on all my blades because it makes a differ...
